Fashion Cities of the Middle East

The fashion industry in the Middle East represents an evolution of historical and political change, as well as a mixture of influences that has enriched and modernized its diverse cultures and produced a custom of dress both progressive and yet true to its traditional design identities.
According to Antonio Rubel, the Founder and President of Middle East Fashion Week, “The Middle East is the new fashion capital of the world”. Here are some of the main fashion cities of the Middle East, as well as an interactive map that will help us locate them and understand their importance to Middle Eastern fashion.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The city has just been ranked as one of the most fashion-savvy in the world. Dubai made The Spectator Index's list for being one of the most fashion-inclusive cities globally in 2018, ranking on the 10th spot and following the lead of Paris (which scooped first place) New York, Milan, and London.
Baalbek, Lebanon
Lebanon has established itself as one of the biggest players in the Middle Eastern fashion scene. With designers like Elie Saab, Tony Ward, and Reem Acra, the country is one of the most fashionable in the region.
Giza, Egypt
The architects of fashion were Egyptians. In several respects, most of the world's famous fashion weeks from Milan, London, Paris and New York are often inspired by Ancient Egyptian designs.
Petra, Jordan
It is a historical and archaeological town in southern Jordan. With Petra, illuminated by lights, the backdrop for fashion shows is truly awe-inspiring. Jordan is growing year by year in the fashion scene.
