47Soul
Review by Sarah Khattab
The short:
47Soul’s eclectic fusion of electronic beats and traditional Arabic sounds will have you up and dancing dabke in no time.
The long:
47Soul is a Palestinian Jordanian band known for blending traditional Levantine music with modern electronic sounds, creating a genre they call “Shamstep.” Their music combines driving basslines, synthesizers, and electronic beats with the sounds of the mijwiz and darbuka, capturing the energy of both traditional dabke and contemporary dance music.
The band’s lyrics often address social and political themes, touching on issues like freedom, resistance, and identity. Their debut album Balfron Promise and follow-up Semitics have brought them international attention, with tracks that seamlessly blend Arabic melodies with global sounds, making their music both rebellious and celebratory.
To listen or not to listen:
Whether you’re into dabke or just love high-energy, genre-blending music, they are a must-listen!!
