Al Azwag Al Shayateen (1977) [Diabolical Husbands]

The Short:

A romantic comedy that follows the story of three friends who work together, where one is single and two who are constantly escaping their wives, get into trouble with the police.

The Long:

Starring Adel Emam, one of Egypt most prominent actors, this movie is set to give you a good time. Emam’s movies are known throughout the Arab world to be of high impact, whether it’s ones that’ll make you laugh till your stomach hurts, or ones that’ll make you cry your heart out, there’s no doubt that Adel Emam’s movies are ones to bring together family and non-family to fixate in front of the screen to watch his impeccable performance. This movie tells the story of three friends who are set up by a woman they pick up from the side of the street one night, although married, and so this backfires as the woman plants a stolen jewelry in their couch which results in them getting arrested, and while the truth unfolds, the husbands are released but are chased by the wives, while also being chased by the woman so she can get her jewelry back.   

To watch or not to watch:

Watch for sure! This is a hilarious movie, away from politics and instability, seeing Arab humor separate from trauma is refreshing, and this movie is one of many to serve that purpose.
