All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir

Review by Maddie Loebbaka

The short:

All My Rage is a deeply intimate and exploratory bildungsroman that manages to rip the reader’s heart out and then sew it back together.

The long:

Childhood best friends Noor and Salahudin navigate the small yet infinite struggles of growing up, while also grappling with crushing obstacles of identity, safety, and connection. In All My Rage Sabaa Tahir explores her own experience as the daughter of Pakistani immigrants being raised in rural California, creating beautifully complex characters that capture equally complex themes of belonging and community.

A tenderhearted read that traces the coming-of-age stories across generations, Tahir’s work shows another perspective of the American dream and the damage its pursuit can inadvertently cause.

To read or not to read:

A must-read.
