City of Veils by Zoë Ferraris

Review by: Meagan Dashcund

The short
Book #2 in the Saudi murder mystery trilogy we refer to as the Tales of Nayir and Katya.

The long
If you couldn’t get enough of the tour through Saudi culture from Finding Nouf, get ready to be further introduced to the world of desert guide (and now murder mystery detective/expert, apparently), Nayir Sharqi. This time, a young woman’s body is found on a Jeddah beach as an American woman goes stir crazy when her expat husband goes to work one day and then straight up disappears. You get three plot stories for the price of one as each chapter piles on the suspense, intrigue, and frustrations with gender segregation.

To read or not to read?
Did you like Finding Nouf? Imagine that with more characters, more adventures, and more critical analysis of the complex and compelling Saudi lifestyle.
