The Fall of the Shah

Review by Gray Farris

The Short

The Fall of the Shah is a podcast that takes the listener step by step through the actors in Iran during the time of the Iranian Revolution.

The Long

This podcast has the vantage point of western-focused actors, such as Canadian reporters, US Department of State officials, and members of the executive branch of the US government. There are focuses on those who followed the Ayatollah; however, the lens of this podcast revolves around the interactions of US-focused actors. This podcast is even more enjoyable because it is set up similar to a radio drama. While a radio drama in style, in terms of substance, the podcasts allows us to live through factual circumstances with fast moving entertainment. Episode 7 was a particularly enjoyable episode due to the divergence of character outcomes, given the nature of revolution.

To read or not to read?

Listen with the acknowledgement that it is set up more as an audiobook. It presents itself through a variety of character portrayals of those who were actors in the fall of the Shah of Iran.
