‘Habeena’ by Farid Al-Atrash

Review by Randy Alghawi

The short:

Farid AL-Atrash was a Syrian-Egyptian Druze singer and actor and highly respected figure in the community. Druze men and women idolized him similarly to how Elvis Presley was idolized and everyone in the community sought out to imitate his look and personality.

The long:

The legacy of Farid AL-Altrash is still carried out today, many people in the Druze community all over the globe still listen to his music. One of his most beloved songs came from one of his movies called “Nagm fi Hayati” and is called Habeena. Habeena is a very charming song that had a melodic tune and is a very catchy song easy to listen to. Moreover, since the song was featured in a movie, the song really showed Farid’s ability to sing and act. Farid had a very strong voice and class that made his audience captivated by his performance of the song. Interestingly enough, the AL-Atrash family had more than one talented performer as Farid had a talented sister known as Asmahan.

To listen or not to listen:

Farid AL-Atrash was a very talented performer and “Habeena” is one of many great songs that he sang. His content is a must listen to and if it’s one of his movies, it is a must-watch.
