Review by: Robert Potter

The short
A brief history of how law and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have collided in various ways.

The long
Justice for Some, written by Noura Erakat, a Palestinian professor and human rights attorney, smartly documents how international law has influenced the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at times for the better and in a lot of areas for the worse. The book begins with the Mandate system, helmed by the British and the French, that perpetrated the birth of Israel and the โ€œuniqueโ€ circumstances that have surrounded its existence. Erakat then follows that story up to present day, where thorny questions still reside in an area that has struggled perhaps more than any other for long lasting peace.

To read or not to read?
If youโ€™re interested in learning about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and especially curious about getting a Palestinian perspective on the whole thing, this book is a great place to start.
