The short: 

Majida El Roumi (Born December 13, 1957) is a Lebanese singer. She is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador to the FAO.

The long: 

Majida El Roumi was born in the town of "Kfar Chima" in Lebanon. And she is the daughter of a musical family, her first lyrical recording was a Roman Catholic church chant entitled "Your Birthday". She has received many awards and honors, the most important of which are:

  • The National Shield of the Cedars, Knight Rank from the Presidency of the Lebanese Republic in 1994.

  • The shield from the French National Assembly in 1993.

  • Shield of Honor from Queen Noor Al Hussein in Jordan in 2002.
