The short:

A Syrian Drama series that was first aired in 2016. The series tries to shed light on the situation of the Syrian people during the war, the tragedies and difficulties they faced in life in Syria, and the difficulties that the citizens face there.

The long:

This series revolves about the story of a writer named Urwa who comes from a very privileged family in Syria. The series is divided between two periods, the period before the civil war in Syria, which shows the beginning of the story in colorful scenes, and the second period during the war, which shows in black and white the fate to which each member of that family devolves. It portrays some parts in black and white as an expression of sadness. It has a philosophical lense to life in war while looking for peace and love in the midst of all the chaos.

To watch or not to watch:

It is definitely a must watch. It is an experience to have through the Syrian drama. I recommend this series to watch as it is essential to tackle another aspect of life in the midst of war and to witness the changes of a single family to have normal life before 2011 and how the events of 2011 has changed this family’s life and the overall social setting in Syria.
