Omar

Review by Will Dossett

The Short
The gripping story of a young man trying to navigate the maze of life in the occupied West Bank.

The Long
Omar regularly scales the West Bank barrier to visit his sweetheart, Nadia, and her brother, Tarek. After being caught and beaten by Israeli soldiers, he and his friends stage an attack on a checkpoint. When Omar is captured and sent to military prison, he becomes ensnared in a web of plot and counterplot pitting Israeli intelligence against Palestinian resistance fighters. Ultimately, he will have to outwit enemies on both sides of the border to reclaim his life and love.

To Watch or Not to Watch
Watch! Few, if any, movies do a better job of portraying the deeply complex and contentious world at the thin line that separates Israel and Palestine. Beyond the political and emotional structure, however, is an engrossing thriller that will shock and tantalize you until the very last moment.
