The short
The World Next Week is a weekly podcast highlighting events that are due to take place in the upcoming week. The podcast is put out by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and is released weekly on Thursdays.

The long
An inversion of the common weekly recap podcast, The World Next Week Focuses on upcoming or ongoing events in the world. Hosts James M. Lindsay (host of The President’s Inbox podcast) and Robert McMahon of the Council on Foreign Relations provide an astute take on world events. While the podcast takes an implicit American point of view, the podcast does not examine the issues from an explicitly American foreign policy focus. Rather, the issues are approached from a more balanced perspective. The production values are excellent even during COVID. The hosts are experienced and focused, if a bit wooden at times, but this does not detract significantly from the show.

To listen or not to listen?
Like the President’s Inbox, CFR’s podcast offerings are an excellent resource for learning about foreign affairs. By focusing on upcoming events the show highlights world happenings that any budding IR practitioner should keep their eye on.
