ACHAEMENID
The Achaemenid kings ruled over the largest empire in the ancient world and called the region, “the land of Aryans”, which is where the name Iran comes from. Twelve ambitious and charismatic kings led the empire from its founding to its fall. Under Cyrus the Great, Darius I, and Xerxes, the empire became the home of one of the greatest civilizations the ancient world has ever seen. The vast Achaemenid Empire spanned from Egypt in the west to Turkey in the north, and through Mesopotamia to the Indus River in the east. The city of Persepolis was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire.
