KIZZZUWATNA
Kizzuwatna was a small kingdom on the southern coast of Turkey between 1600 and 1400 BCE. The Kingdom was situated between the Hittite Kingdom to the Northwest and the Mitanni Kingdom to the East. The kingdom achieved independence following the decline of the Hittite empire in the 16th century BCE and was able to maintain independence thanks to its ability to maintain control of the passes through the Taurus mountains. Kizzuwatna remained relevant in the region because it controlled trade between Anatolia and Syria–however, this is also the cause of its downfall as it was captured by the Hatti around 1400 BCE.
