MONGOL

Although the Mongol empire was relatively short lived, existing as a unified state for little more than a century, the Mongol Empire exerted a powerful influence on the whole of Eurasia. During the brief period of the Mongol invasions, the Mongols were able to overthrow many established nations, from the Song Dynasty in China, the Khwarazmian Dynasty in Central Asia, and the Kievan Rus in modern day Russia and Ukraine. This continent-spanning empire promoted extensive trade and the exchange of ideas. Although massively destructive, the Mongol conquests would become a decisive event in world history that would shape the modern world.
