NUMIDIA
North Africa has been ruled by many Amazigh Kingdoms, one of which was the Kingdom of Numidia. The Numidian Kingdom united North Africa and became a great power comparable in size to Carthage and Rome at the time. Numidia was located primarily in what is now Algeria, and expanded to include parts of Tunisia and Libya. The territory was originally divided between two tribes; Massyli in the East, and Masaesyli in the West. The Masaesyli's chief desire was to unite all Amazigh peoples across the region; however, they were conquered by the Massylii tribe under King Masinissa’s leadership in 203 BCE.
