PHRYGIA
Located in modern day northwest Turkey, the story of the ancient Kingdom of Phrygia (fri-gee-uh) began with a mythological king, and became the name of a geographical region for centuries to come. Little is known of Phrygian society, but their metalworking, woodcraft, and embroidery were greatly valued and immensely influenced the ancient world. From the Phrygia civilizations’ potential origins in the Balkans, to their migrating to fight in the Trojan War (12th century BCE), and their sudden collapse (7th century BCE), the Kingdom of Phrygia adapted to circumstances and left a legacy with strong influences that have been sprinkled throughout history.
