QATNA
The ancient kingdom of Qatna, or Tal Al Mishrifeh, is located in modern-day Western Syria, near Homs. An Amorite kingdom governed between the Early Bronze III-IV which is around 2600-2000 BCE. Throughout 1400 and 1500 BCE, the Arameans inhabited the kingdom of Qatna, while several different rulers occupied the region during that era. Qatna was under the rule of the Egyptian, Hittites, and Mitanni influence. Before then, the Amorite autonomously governed the region. The kingdom’s reign was consistent throughout 2600-1300 BCE, until being abandoned in the 10th century. Sources are obscure, leaving the historical context of the kingdom of Qatna forgotten.
