JORDAN
In the capital of Amman, King Abdullah II presides over a small, Arab kingdom of approximately 10 million people, the full name of which is The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Hashemite Kingdom’s history dates to the earliest stages of human civilization, with archaeological sites reaching back to the Stone Age. Surrounded on three sides by countries engulfed in civil wars and serious unrest, Jordan has remained relatively stable in an unpredictable region. Throughout the Arab Spring, Jordan weathered civil strife relatively peacefully and, as a result, has absorbed millions of refugees from Syria and Iraq since the Spring of 2012.
