Lillian Aronson

Energy, Water, and Food Fellow

While completing a Master of International Affairs at Pennsylvania State University, Lillian specialized in Middle East security studies and spent a lot of time researching and writing about the SWANA region. She built on these experiences as a research assistant for several university professors, as a visiting editor at the Princeton Journal of Public and International Affairs, and as an intern at several non-profit organizations. Two of Lillian’s internships specifically involved researching, writing, and editing with an emphasis on the SWANA region: she wrote short articles about human rights in the West Bank as an intern at the Palestinian Center for Education and Cultural Exchange in Hebron, and she translated and edited scholarly articles, reports, and books as an intern at the Politics and Society Institute, a think tank located in Amman.

Daniel Duchaine

Space Governance and Power Fellow

During his undergraduate studies at Dickinson, Daniel concentrated on the SWANA region, culminating in a final research paper that analyzed the causes of state formation and collapse within the SWANA context. This academic grounding was further enriched during his study abroad experience in Jordan, where he authored research papers on topics like the history of piracy in the Arab Gulf and the impact of remittances on Jordan's political economy. Currently, as a fellow at the Center for Space Governance, his research interests have expanded to international relations in space governance. Here, he has explored subjects ranging from great power competition to Mars governance. Daniel’s work has been recognized through publications in the Space Review, including an innovative analytical tool he developed known as the Space Power Index. This multifaceted background equips him with a comprehensive skill set for researching and analyzing complex issues, especially those pertinent to the SWANA region.
