Lost Boys of Sudan
Review by Yabsera Bekele
The short: This documentary follows the lives of two Sudanese refugees on their journey from Sudan to America fleeing the Civil War in Sudan.
The long: Filmed in 2003, this documentary sheds light into the lives of Peter Dut and Santino Chuor, two Sudanese refugees that were chosen to immigrate to America to escape the Civil War. It follows the two young men as they survive lion attacks and the dangers of the war and make it to the United States. Once in the U.S., they face the challenges of unfamiliarity and alienation.
To watch or not to watch: A must watch! While the Sudanese Civil War may seem distant, the ramifications of the war still affect the country and the people to this day. This excellent documentary humanizes a significant occurrence in history and inspires compassion and perseverance.
